Luckily for those who love to decorate the bedroom, the job isn’t finished when the bedding and furniture are picked out. Those lighting fixtures can form the primary illumination for the room, or just throw a spot into a corner to add an accent.  Using creativity with shadows and light, you can create a mood for any occasion.  If the room could use a secondary heat source or even just a striking focal point, a possible solution is a bedroom fireplace.  If you think they’re all small or just decorative, think again; they’ll effectively heat a room in the coldest of climes.  Of course, if heat isn’t your main concern, a smaller fireplace with give you all the style without the higher heating bill.

There are several options for powering a bedroom fireplace, including propane, special lamp oil fuels, or electrical displays that simulate flame.  Some fireplaces have a Scandinavian style, a modern brick with slender lines.  Or, they can provide a traditional American colonial accent that provides the perfect complement to that oak four-poster.

Storage and closet organizers have expanded the usable space by making every cubic inch count. If you want to add more later, modular designs allow for this. Plastic, metal, wood or composite material options give you a choice perfect for your circumstances.

Bookshelves are another popular choice. Models are available that can be placed into the wall, similar to a bathroom medicine cabinet without the door. Or, the more usual type can be placed on L-supports. One of the new design options available boast hidden supports that anchor the bookcase to the wall using internal supports.  Once you’ve picked out your bedding, don’t let the decorating joy just stop there.  Pick out some bedroom accents that give the design that final touch.
