There are many things that the average homeowner can do to make his home more desirable for a buyer. But one thing that will certainly  make it stand out is an addition of one of the portable swimming pools.

These days, a swimming pool is a status symbol. And it’s one that not too many can easily afford, even with decreasing swimming pool prices. But, for those lucky few, in addition to status, it’s a great place to have parties around as well as the perfect place to spend on hot ninety degree days.

After your pool is installed, and before you do anything else, you’ll want to be sure it is pH balanced. What’s pH? It’s simply a measurement of the relative levels of acidity or alkalinity in a liquid – which in your case is the pool water. pH pool levels are extremely important. If the pH is too acidic, you and your guests will experience the common burning eyes that many people experience when they swim.  And even though automatic swimming pool cleaners will help, cleaning is a bit different from ensuring that you pool is balanced.

In addition, if you place rubber floats or toys in the pool, it won’t be too long before you find out that high acidic levels speeds up the rate at which these devices decay and you’ll find yourself replacing them much more often.

But, on the other hand, if tests show that the water is too alkaline, the pool water will have an unappealing cloudy appearance to it. In addition, it’ll cause your skin to dry out. pH balancing your pool, prevents either of these extremes from happening.

It’s not necessary that you become a pH guru in order to test your water balance. Any homeowner, can can test it themselves by simply buying one of the inexpensive pH kits found in just about any home center. Contingent on the test results, you can either use pH decreasers or ph indreasers to perfect adjust the pH levels to correct levels which most pool experts will tell you is a pH somewhere between 7.2 and 7.6.

As time passes, you will gradually come to intimately know your swimming pool. At this point you’ll be able to more or less accurately judge when its water balance is off and make the necessary corrections.
